Edwin L. Hollister, 95, of Elk Lake, passed away at the Endless Mountains Health Systems, on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at after an extended illness. He was born on April 4, 1921 in East Rush, PA, to the late Herman and Josephine (Pierson) Hollister.Surviving are his three daughters and son-in-law, Patricia Schwarztrauber, Elk Lake, Susan and David Petty, Elk Lake, Linda Hollister, Montrose; three sons and daughter-in-law, Delbert Hollister, Elk Lake, Donald Hollister, Elk Lake, Dennis and Darlene Hollister, Elk Lake; two sisters and brother-in-law, Libby "Betty" Joy-Carman, Binghamton, NY, Carolyn and Ken Eshleman, FL; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Dottie Hollister, East Rush, Arden Hollister, Hallstead, Harvey "Pete" and Judy Hollister, FL, sister-in-law, Viola Hollister, Hop Bottom; 18 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren, numerous niece, nephews, and cousins.Ed was predeceased by his first wife, Alice (Stevens) Hollister; second wife, Minnie (Farr) Hollister, and companion, Helen Ducanis; son, Dayton Hollister; three brothers, Lyle, Fred, Sr., and Allen Hollister; and son-in-law, Ralph Schwarztrauber.Edwin was an
Army veteran serving during WW II, and was a member of the American Legion Gardner-Warner Post #154,
VFW Ayres-Stone Post 5642; he attended the East Rush United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing; and in his younger years, he rode his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Ed worked at Bendix for many years, and he and his second wife owned and operated the Blue Ridge Motel in New Milford. A Funeral Service was held Sunday, November 6, 2016 at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, Montrose, PA with Rev. Richard Spering officiating. Interment will be at the East Rush Cemetery. Visitations were held prior to the service.In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the East Rush Church, 3884 E. Rush to Elk Lake Rd, Montrose, PA 18801.
