Edwin O. Hawk, 84, of Sharpsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 31st, 2016 at St. Paul Homes in Greenville, PA. Edwin was born on February 29th, 1932 to Delbert Duncan and Alice Lewis (Jones) Hawk Sr. in Sutton, PA. On February 29th, 1956 he married his wife Joan Kunselman, who survives at home. He graduated from Summerville High School. Following High School he served in the U.S. Army during the
Korean War. Edwin worked as a furnace operator for Sharon Steel, 40 years, until his retirement. He was a member of the Central Christian Church in Hermitage, PA where he cherished his many close friends. Edwin was also a member of the Faithful Club in Hartford, OH and the Sharon Odd Fellows. He loved playing slow and fast pitch softball into his late 50s, baseball for Heathville and Farrell, golf, hunting, fishing, traveling, and attending his grandchildren's sports. Edwin is survived by his loving wife Joan Hawk, daughter Patricia Joan (John) Greeno of Mt. Lebanon, PA, son Edwin A. (Ali) Hawk of Masury, OH, daughter in law Sue Hawk of Ithaca, NY, sister Gale (Leon) Smith of Brookville, PA, sister in law Lois Hawk of Brookville, PA, and 3 grandchildren; Emily Nicole Greeno, James Gordon Greeno, Caleb Alan Hawk. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by father, Delbert Duncan Hawk, Sr., mother, Alice Lewis Hawk, an infant brother, brother Delbert Duncan Hawk Jr., and son Harry R. Hawk. Friends may call Friday, September 2nd, 2016, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Stephen J. Sherman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 22021 Highland Rd. Hermitage, PA. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 3rd, 2016, 10:00 am at the Central Christian Church Hermitage, PA with Pastor Lew Voisey, officiating.
