Ernestine Layne Goodman was born May 1, 1924, in Frost, TX and passed away Thursday, April 4, 2019, in a local hospital. She was a very active member of Memorial Baptist Church for over 65 years where she was the head of the Adult 8 Senior Sunday School Class and coordinated the Lottie Moon Christmas Officering for International Missions for the past several years. She was a member of the Pilot Club of Baytown, was a former board member for the Baytown Sheltering Arms, and participated with the Meals on Wheels program, along with many other activities.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy L. Goodman; parents, Frank, Sr. and Lizzie Angel; brothers, Hiram, Frank, Elbert, Lazz, Bruce, and Billy Angel; and sisters, Marion Pace, Marie Harrison, and Grace Sublett. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Robert Cole and Lana and Larry Smith, all of Houston; grandchildren and their spouses, Leigh and Michael Dean, Lou and Louie Massaro, and Mandy and Eric Wisdom; and great-grandchildren, Courtney, Kimberleigh, Kendall, McKenzie, and Bubba Dean, Samuel and Troy Castrow, Taylor Knight, Priscilla Cones, and Mark Massaro.

Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 6, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Baptist Church, 600 W. Sterling, Waco, TX 76633 with Rev. Randy Piatt and Rev. Stan Sullinger officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
