Johnson, ElaineElaine F. (Nellis) Johnson, 86, Green Bay, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017. She was born on October 7, 1930, in Walhain to the late Wendel and Doris (Lardinois) Nellis. Elaine graduated from Luxemburg High School in 1948. Elaine's passion for dance led her to her love, Homer Johnson. They were married on January 19, 1949, in Walhain. They ran a farm together for 25 years. Elaine had a strong faith, praying the Rosary often. She was a long-time member of St. Francis DePaul Parish in Duval, and later with St. Bernard Parish. Elaine enjoyed bowling with both her women's league and a couple's league. She also played in a Cuyoo league. Elaine had a good sense of humor and enjoyed a beer and a good joke or shaking dice at the bar. She would often be heard yodeling, even in the nursing homes. Elaine loved her family most of all, hosting dinners and playing cards. Her grandchildren will always remember how she would catch them and hold them until they would give her a kiss.She will be deeply missed by her children, Carl (Pat) Johnson, Green Bay, Duane (Kim) Johnson, Glenview, IL, and Cheryl (fiancé Rick Verkuilen) Herlache, Green Bay; seven grandchildren, Ryan (Shanie) Johnson, Melanie (Jim) Collins, Alexandria Hendrickson, Jack Johnson, Dean Johnson, Deanna Herlache, and Nick Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Cole and Keegan Johnson; sister-in-law, Blanche Christoff; and many other family and friends.In addition to her parents, Elaine is preceded in death by her husband, Homer; daughter, Nancy Johnson; parents-in-law, Jim and Clara Johnson; and four brothers-in-law, Willard Johnson, Harold (Margaret) Johnson, Harvey (Vivian) Johnson, and Donald Christoff.Visitation will be at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Dr., from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass on Friday, June 2, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday at Church with Rev. Mark VanderSteeg officiating. Entombment will be in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Online condolences may be expressed at
