Rimsza, Elaine S. Age 78, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, Monday, June 5th, 2017. Elaine was born on September 11th, 1938, in Sylvester, Georgia, to her parents, Jack and Melvina Sumner. She was delivered by her paternal grandfather, Gordon S. Sumner, M.D., at their home in Worth County, Ga. Elaine graduated in 1956 from Sylvester High School, where she served as class president, enjoyed cheerleading and ballet, was active in the Spanish Club, which ultimately inspired her love of the Spanish culture. After relocating to Phoenix, Arizona, she raised her 4 children in Tempe, Arizona. After raising her children, in 1983, she married the love of her life, Anton "Tony" V. Rimsza. Together, they enjoyed living in Rocky Point, Mexico, with the companionship of their closest friends, and countless adventures in the Sea of Cortez. Elaine enjoyed sunsets on their patio in Rocky Point, Mexico, with her husband, closest friends and family. Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Melvina (Alford) Sumner, of Tallahassee, Florida; paternal grandparents, Dr. Gordon S. and Mattie Lou (Chapman) Sumner, of Sylvester, Georgia; maternal grandparents, W.L.H. and Lucy Mell (Overby) Alford, of Worth County, Georgia; daughter, Kerry A. Blackmon; brother, Gordon Sumner, Ph.D.; and grandson, Tanner D. Chappell. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Anton V. Rimsza; siblings, Jackie S. Duvall and Richard Sumner; children, Linda K. Blackmon (Randy), Pamela Chappell (Doug), Thomas Blackmon (Pamela), Mary Ellen Rimsza (Dave), Jim Rimsza (Linda), Gay Mullan (Mike), Skip Rimsza (Kim), Bob Rimsza (Lisa), Elizabeth "Betty" Rimsza (Jim), Bill Rimsza (Crystal), and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family would like to recognize and thank Family Comfort Hospice for their compassionate and loving care while helping Elaine transition peacefully.
