FREMONT — Eldon D. Leedy, 87, passed away on December 28, 2014, at his home in Fremont. He was born on April 30, 1927, in Rochester, Indiana, to Oran E. and Geneva (Baldwin) Leedy. He married Betty Crain on January 12, 1951. He was a member of the Community Brethren Church in Mishawaka. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Warsaw Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Rochester American Legion. Eldon retired from accounting and obtained his dream job at the Pokagon State Park Nature Center in Angola. He was a naturalist there for 16 years. He enjoyed working with nature and the outdoors. He especially loved working with the reptiles. Surviving are his wife, Betty Leedy of Fremont, Indiana; two sons, David and Jennifer Leedy of Holt, Michigan, and Jerry Leedy of Syracuse, Indiana; one daughter, Deena and Larry Coleman of Fremont, Indiana; three grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer and Kelly; and five great-grandchildren, Jordan, Spencer, Sam, Andy and Ben. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Irene Garber. Memorial services will be at a later date. Memorials may be given in Eldon's memory to the Nature Center at Pokagon State Park.
