Eleanor Aragon, 87, passed from this life and entered into her heavenly home on her birthday, April 22, 2015.She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was born on April 22, 1928, in La Ventana to Juan Jose Sanchez and Endelesia (Montoya) Sanchez.She was preceded in death by parents; her beloved husband, Florencio Aragon; her son, Leroy (Zorba) Aragon; her son-in-law, Lt. Col. John Patrick Otero; brothers, Eloy Sanchez, Agapito Sanchez; brother-in-law, Frank Varela; brother-in-law, Ramon Ortiz; brother-in-law, Arquelino Aragon; brother-in-law, Amande Aragon and wife, Matilda; brother-in-law, Blas Aragon and wife, Corrina; brother-in-law, Ignacio Salazar and wife, Hignia; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Sanchez, Mary Martinez, Arvela Gallegos, and brother-in-law, Jose Martinez and wife, Juanita. She is survived by her daughters, Polly Otero, Mary Valdez and husband, Glen Valdez; grandchildren, Jeremy Aragon and fiancé Rachel, Dr. Jacqueline Otero-Henderson and husband, Juan Henderson, Julie Romero, Jeff Otero, Christina Romero; great-grandchildren, Lynnah Martinez, Saia Henderson, Aiden Aragon, all of whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her sisters, Maria Lena Ortiz and husband, Abedon Ortiz Jr., Rose Lovato and husband, Alfred Lovato; brothers, Arcenio Sanchez and wife, Theresa Eddie Sanchez and wife, Jennie, Lorenzo Sanchez and wife, Margaret, Fred Sanchez and wife, Gloria, Joe Sanchez and wife, Flora; sister-in-law, Betty Sanchez. Special cousins who were like her sisters, Lucy Otero, Lupe Griego, and Fedelina Lind; comadres, Mary Otero, Nellie Valdez and Gloria Montaño. She also leaves many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.Eleanor graduated from I.C. high school in 1948. She retired from the Las Vegas Behavioral Institute. Eleanor was an active, hard-working woman with a generous nature. She was an avid and talented gardener.She was a skilled oil painter. She loved painting in oils and her home was filled with her paintings and art work, but her biggest affection was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Special thanks to Pauline Gabaldon, our mothers wonderful caretaker; her wonderful nurse, Bernice Abeyta; Dr. Michael Lopez for the many years being her physician; Carolina Chavez for her friendship and her endless time praying with and for our mother and to Kathy Gonzales for helping out when we needed her. Alan and Floyd Griego for always making sure her driveway was plowed in the winter and always checking up on her. Her nieces, Susie Martinez, Helen Martinez, Christine Lucero for stopping by and visiting with her. Her nephew, Michael Martinez, for visiting with her and making sure she didn't need any repairs done around the house. Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father John Anasiudu at 9 a.m. Tuesday also at Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
