Eleanor S. ChenowethCLARKSBURG: Eleanor S. Chenoweth, 88, of Clarksburg, died on Sunday, December 11, 2016, at her home. She was born on April 19, 1928 in Ross County, the daughter of the late Ralph P. and Eleanor Brown Stitt. On July 23, 1949 she married Roy M. Chenoweth, who preceded her in death on January 19, 2002.Surviving are four children, Harriet (Brian) Barthelmas of Circleville, Charles "Chip" (Sue) Chenoweth of Clarksburg, Allison (Jeff) Park of Chillicothe, Ralph (Julie) Chenoweth of Clarksburg, seven grandchildren, Adam (Stacey) Park, Emily (Jason) Stauffer, Sarah Chenoweth, Eric (LeeAnn Junk) Chenoweth, Laura (Will) Hamman, Eleanor Chenoweth, Rachel Barthelmas, four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Sophia, and Sadie Stauffer, and Adalynn Park. The family extends special thanks to the Chillicothe Family Physicians, Adena Cancer Center and Adena Hospice for the care given to Eleanor. Eleanor was a 1946 graduate of Clarksburg High School, and attended Ohio Wesleyan, The
Ohio State University, and earned a Bachelor's Degree in education from Ohio University. During Eleanor's teaching career of 31 years, she impacted many young lives. From 1949 to 1950 she taught in a one room schoolhouse, the Hopeton School, grades 1 through 6, which was part of Centralia Schools. From 1950-1952 she taught at Williamsport Elementary and from 1965 to 1993 she taught at Adena Elementary at Clarksburg. She was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority at The Ohio State University. She was a member of the Brown's Chapel United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Nathaniel Massie Chapter, and the Delta Kappa Gamma sorority Alpha Gamma Chapter.Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. in the Brown's Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Jerry Caddell officiating. Burial will follow in Brown's Chapel Cemetery, Clarksburg. Friends may visit with the Chenoweth family at the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m..
