Eleanor (Ellie) Dewees McKeage died on November 2, 2014 at her home. The daughter of the late Paul Dewees and Gladys Williams Dewees, she was born on October 18, 1926. A graduate of the Montrose High School, she worked as a secretary. She was married in 1957 to John F. McKeage, who died in 1995. A stepson, John C. McKeage, St. Petersburg, Fla., survives.A lifelong member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Montrose, she served on the Vestry and as a member and Director of the Altar Guild. During her lifetime, she was affiliated with the following organizations: Director and President of the Susquehanna County Historical Society and Free Library Association; Director of the Endless Mountains Medical Care Foundation, the Susquehanna County Humane Society; The Montrose Club; and the Montrose Cemetery Association. An enthusiastic golfer, she was a founding member of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Women's Golf Association and was several times Ladies' Golf Champion at The Montrose Club and Irem Temple Country Club, Dallas. In 2005, she was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow Award by the Montrose Rotary Club for community service. In 2006, she was honored by the Montrose Area Chamber of Commerce when it named her "Citizen of the Year."A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 19. 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Montrose, with the Rev. Dr. Paul W. Towers and Rev. Canon Charles Cesaretti officiating. Inurnment will be in the church columbarium.
