BERLEKAMPEleanor F.Eleanor F. Berlekamp, 95, of Fremont passed away at her home on December 1, 2016. She was born on August 26, 1921, to Edward and Della (Rothert) Durdel in Elmore.In 1939, she graduated from Harris Elmore High School. She worked at Owens Illinois Glass Co. for 12 years until she married Kenneth Berlekamp Sr. on November 1, 1952. She then worked with her husband at Berlekamp Plastics until his death in 1980. She continued in her role as president of Berlekamp Plastics until retiring at age 84.In her youth, Eleanor played basketball, tennis, and bowling. She spent her leisure time harness racing, boating, and golfing. She was a member of the Fremont Federation of Woman, since 1954. She was active in her church, Grace Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir and participated in the church's Daughters Circle. She served on the Advisory Board at Valley View, was a member of Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the hospital's Golden Threads. In her spare time, she enjoyed Bunco Club, Pinochle Club, Catawba Island Club, and the Bide-a-Wee Farm Women.Eleanor is survived by her children, Jane Berlekamp of Fremont, Kenneth (Sandra) Berlekamp of Fremont; step-daughter, Joyce (Robert) Damschroder of MI; 6 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Pauline Durdel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; stepdaughter, Barbara Keech; sisters, Mildred Bartha, and Kathryn Durdel; and brothers, Raymond Durdel, Clifford Durdel, and Keith Durdel.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Herman Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church with an hour of visitation to be held prior to the service.
