Eleanor Louise Higley, of Rolla, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2016 at the age of 92.She was born on September 13, 1924 in Depew, Oklahoma. On November 11, 1946 she married Leo Williams "Bill" Higley Jr. in Rolla, MO and to this union eight children were born. Eleanor lived most of her entire life in Rolla. After graduating from Rolla High School, she attended and graduated from Barnes Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, as a Registered Nurse. The majority of her nursing career was spent at the UMR Student Infirmary. She worked there part-time while the children were growing up and later as a full-time nurse. She was a faithful supporter of St. Patrick Catholic School and participated in all the various activities of the school as class mother and member of the Home & School, and teaching in the CCD religion program. She and her husband, Bill, continued volunteering at the school as grandparents and even after all her grandchildren were gone. She enjoyed attending college activities for her children and other school activities for her grandchildren. She was a skilled amateur seamstress, self-taught. She enjoyed antiquing and auctions and working in her yard. After retiring, she loved to travel with her husband around the United States visiting children and grandchildren, and even made a few trips over seas. Faith, family, and friends were most important to her, most all connected to St. Patrick Catholic Church. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her grandson Ryan Malone.Eleanor will be sadly missed by her surviving family which includes, her husband Bill Higley of Rolla, four sons; Leo William Higley III(Edith Wells) of Chesterfield, MO, Michael Higley(Mary) of Seguin, TX, Timothy Higley(Ed Mazzu) of Houston, TX, MSGR. Gregory Higley of Hermann, MO, four daughters; Eleanor Abele(Charles) of St. Louis, MO, Kathleen Schmidt(Stanley) of Carthage, MO, Mary Malone(Ward Merrill) of St. Augustine, FL, and Ann Robert of New York City, NY, fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.A Funeral Mass for Eleanor will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 11, 2016 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rolla. Interment will follow in the Rolla City Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday November 10, 2016 at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Patrick Catholic School or the Rolla Presbyterian Manor Resident Council EAF.Online condolences may be offered at
