Eleanor Virginia (Jennie) Lillard, 72 of Louisa, VA, went home to be with the Lord on July 18, 2022. She was born July 1, 1950 in Fauquier County to the late Horace and Betty Owens.
Eleanor grew up in Fauquier County and graduated from Fauquier High School. After years of working at the local laundromat with her mom and sisters, she decided to join the US Military and enlisted in the Army. She served state-side during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged as a Private 1st Class.
She was married to Larry Gene Lillard for 41 years until his death in 2015, after a long battle with cancer. After the army, she became a full time wife and mom of 3. She developed a love for trucking like her husband, and spent time with him traveling to many places across the country. Once her kids were grown, she became a secretary and dispatcher for the local trucking company. In 2014, she moved to Louisa, VA to be closer to her grandchildren. She was a member of New Life Community Church in Louisa, VA.
She is survived by two daughters, Laurie Ward, and her husband, Donald, of Louisa; Jennifer Gigi Lillard of Louisa; one son, Jason Lillard, and his wife, Shannon, of Chesterfield, VA; three brothers, Ronald Owens, of Elkwood, VA, James Owens, of Fort Worth, TX, and Andrew Owens, of Fort Worth, TX; one sister, Barbara Perry, of Tazwell, VA; grandchildren, Hannah Ward, Jaycee Williams, and husband, Samuel, Steven Stonnell, Isabella Ward, Evan Lillard, Lucy Ward; great-grandchildren, Amelia (Beanie) and Maverick (Mavi Boy) Williams; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Eleanor is preceded in death by her brothers, Horace T Owens and Harold M Owens; one sister, Patricia Weachter; and her sister-in-law and dear friend, Peggy Jo Owens.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, Virginia with Pastor Todd Lewis. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery with military honors.
