Eleonore D. Loesing, 88, of Columbia passed away on Monday, November 7, 2016, at her residence. She was born on August 6, 1928, in Wuerzburg, Germany, the daughter of Fritz and Anni (Poelsterl) Kraemer, both of whom preceded her in death. After leaving Germany for the United States, she worked in Alaska as a photographer for the Army Air Corps. It was there that she met and fell in love with Jay B. Loesing, who was a pilot for the U.S. Air Force. They were married in Biloxi, Mississippi, in 1954. She was a military wife during the first few years of marriage, and she and Jay moved around quite a bit. After the children came along, she settled into the role of homemaker and mother. She loved her plants and gardens, and cooking traditional German foods and desserts. She was able to travel to Germany quite often and keep in touch with family there. She found her life's passion later in life, becoming the owner and operator of Missouri Art Gallery in Columbia. She loved to work, and enjoyed many years of working alongside her husband. They travelled extensively to seminars and other events related to the gallery. This endeavor also allowed her to volunteer and provide help to many charities in Columbia, including various food pantries. She also loved her pets. She is survived by: her children, Randy Loesing and wife Shelley of Rocheport, and Barbi Loesing of Kansas City; and her granddaughter, Alexandra Loesing; sisters-in-law, Earlene Loesing and Margi Loesing; her cousin Ruth Heln and husband Dennis; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dog Schatzi.
