Elfirio Romero, 91, a longtime resident of Mosca, Colo. and formerly of Holman, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Evergreen Nursing Home in Alamosa, Colo.He was born on May 21, 1922 in Chacon to the late Ricardo Romero and Senaida Martinez.He was united in marriage in Mora on May 10, 1944 to Reynalda Campos.He served in the United States Army from November 1942 to June 1943. He worked for the Railroad in Rawlins, Wyo. he then moved back to Holman to log and ranch and then on to Mosca continuing with farming and ranching.He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Josie Martinez.He is survived by his wife, Reynalda Romero of the family home in Mosca, Colo.; daughter, Betty Sandoval and husband, Gilbert of Manuelitas; son, Elfirio Romero of Mosca, Colo.; grandchildren, Amy Sandoval Dahl and husband, Dan, Ted Sandoval and wife, Louann, all of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Brandon Sandoval and Jordan Dahl; sisters, Mary Martinez and husband, Lloyd of Albuquerque, and Alice Fauset of Michigan; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Rosary services were held at 7 p.m. on Sunday at St. Gertrude Church in Mora. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today (Monday) also at St. Gertrude Church with Father Dennis Dolter, SOLT as celebrant.
