Winkles, Elinor "Ellie" Lois 86 of La Quinta, CA, passed away on September 7, 2017. She was born on April 5, 1931 in St. Francis, Kansas to Reverend Albert and Ethel Hoemann. Ellie was the second oldest of five children which included one older sister, Erma, two younger sisters, Eunice and Evelyn, and a younger brother, Gerald. Ellie's first job was as a teacher at First Lutheran School, grades 1-3, in Burbank, California. During this time, she began dating Bobby Winkles, the man who would become her husband of sixty-four years. Bobby and Ellie were married February 28, 1953. A wonderful example of what a loving marriage should be, Bobby and Ellie lived their whole lives dedicated to one another. She graduated from ASU with a BA in Elementary Education in 1971. Ellie supported Bob in his baseball career and went to every game. Ellie and Bob had three children, Kelly, Jaime, and Kristi. Kristi passed away at eleven years old in 1975. Jaime's children, Lauren and Parker, were Ellie's pride and joy and she loved being their grandma. She loved spending time with them and particularly enjoyed spending a month every summer fishing with them in Park City, Utah. Ellie enjoyed playing games such as Tick, Upwards, and Yahtzee. Ellie was always kind and encouraging to everyone. She was patient and had a genuine love and respect for all people. She loved the Lord with her whole heart, never wavering in faith, and passed on the eternal gift of knowing Jesus Christ to her daughters and grandchildren. She was loved by all and her joyful presence will be deeply missed. Ellie is survived by her loving husband, two daughters, two grandchildren, sister Erma, and brother Gerry. She was preceded in death by her daughter Kristi and sisters Evelyn and Eunice.
