Elisa Valtierra, 79, of Brawley passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2010. She was born on April 21, 1931 in Gary, Indiana and was married to Refugio Valtierra in Yuma in 1957. Elisa Valtierra passed away peacefully at her home in Brawley and went to be with the Lord on November 16, 2010. She was 79 years old and was a proud resident of Brawley for the last 56 years. Elisa was born in Gary, Indiana on April 21, 1931 to Dolores Huirache and Jesus Equihua. Upon the death of her father in 1932 her family moved to Jacona, Michoacan, Mexico. In 1954 she then moved to Mexicali, B.C. where she met her late husband Refugio Valtierra and later were married in Yuma in 1957. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a great friend. She had a strong faith in God and was a parishioner for over 30 years at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Brawley. She enjoyed attending mass and church functions, listening to her favorite morning radio program 'De Colores', traveling to visit all her loved ones. She will be known for her love, kindness, generosity, humbleness, boldness, patience and peace. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 22, 2010 at Frye Chapel and Mortuary at 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Services will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 8 a.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Refugio Valtierra; son, Ralph Valtierra; sisters, Raquel Sandoval and Carmen Zapien; brother, Daniel Huirache. Elisa is survived by her children,Maria Rodriguez of La Quinta, Elena Sanchez of San Jose, Frances Valtierra of Highland, Yolanda Webster of Rancho Cucamonga,Henry Valtierra of Brawley, Johnny Valtierra of Prescott, AZ, Angie Valtierra of Brawley, Josie Valtierra of Mira Loma, and Raymond Valtierra of Los Angeles; brothers, Guillermo of Jacona Michoacan, Gonzalo Huirache of Chicago, Illinois; 21 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren.
