Loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Elizabeth Burns of Birmingham,AL passed away peacefully on March 19, 2023, at the age of 81.
She was born in Birmingham, AL. At age 15 she met her future husband, Charles in her father's butcher shop where he worked after school. Four years later they married, eventually moving from Boston to New Jersey following Richard's graduation from Harvard Business School.
Sheila volunteered with many organizations in both New Jersey and California over the years, most recently at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, California for over 17 years. Prior to moving to California, Sheila and her husband were members of Congregation B'nai Jeshurun in Short Hills, New Jersey.
Sheila had a love of fashion, art, design and traveled extensively with her husband. She was described by many as the sweetest, kindest person. Always willing to help others, compassionate and understanding. She was a trusted friend and was someone you could depend on no matter the circumstance. Most importantly Sheila's family meant everything to her. They were her world.
Sheila was predeceased by her son David Hoffman.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Richard, her daughter Lisa Leisten (Marshall) of San Mateo, California, her son Robert Hoffman (Julia) of Marietta, Georgia and her four grandsons David, Jacob, Zane, and Sacha.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Sheila's memory.
