Elizabeth "Sue" KuopusSan AngeloElizabeth "Sue" Kuopus passed away Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, 2017 in Shaffer Funeral Home's Sherwood Way Chapel. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way.Sue was born on March 15, 1942 in Pontiac, Michigan to Albert and Phyllis Stade. She grew up in Rochester and graduated from Avondale High School in Auburn Heights, Michigan. After graduation, she earned her RN at Grace Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit, Michigan. Sue worked locally as a nurse manager for St. Johns hospital for many years. She later retired from Shannon Medical Center after decades of professional nursing. After retiring, she also spent some time in real estate.She married her childhood sweetheart and the love of her life, Larry Kuopus, on Dec. 12, 1964. Sue was a devoted mother and wife who loved to spend time with her family. Her grandchildren were her greatest accomplishment and she loved being around them. She loved to paint, draw, and collect antique buttons and jewelry. She also loved to play Mahjong and other games with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Larry.Sue is survived by her son, Duane Michael Kuopus and wife Lisa of San Antonio; daughters, Dawn Marie Allen and husband Tommy of Kingsville, Denise Michael of San Angelo; brother, John Stade of Michigan; sister, Mary Williams and her husband Danny and daughter Heather of San Angelo; grandchildren, K'Lee, Kye, and Will Kuopus, Taryn, Ashley, McKinna and Houston Allen, and Sierra Kuopus; sister-in-law, Elaine Connell and husband Bill of Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
