Payson, Elizabeth (Walsh) Elizabeth (Walsh) Payson passed away on July 22, 2017 in Scottsdale, AZ after a heroic battle with cancer. Beth was the fifth child of Alice and G. F. Walsh of Sioux Falls, S.D. born on Jan. 18, 1954 in Fargo, N.D. She graduated from O'Gorman High in 1972 and attended the University of South Dakota. She later met Cliff Payson, who became her husband on July 17th, 1976. The Paysons lived in Sioux Falls, S.D. and Centerville, S.D. where in involved in business and banking. Their children were born during those busy yearsChristina, Bill and Dan. Opportunities in Scottsdale made relocation to Arizona a reality in 1985. Beth had great energy and enthusiasm for any activity that their family was involved in---whether school and church activities or sporting events. Her career also included managing retail, sales and dental offices. One of her greatest abilities was how to be a good friend to so many people who came into her life--and stayed year after year. Beth's annual Christmas coffee grew every year! The most important new people that Beth celebrated were her grandchildrenBrogan, Cal and Avery. She was preceded in death by her parents Alice and G.F. Walsh, a sister Mary Jo Walsh, step mother Dolores Walsh and step-brother Bill Graham. Survivors include Cliff Payson, her husband of 41 years and children Christina Payson, Dan Payson (Mallory & Avery), and Bill Payson (Melissa, Cal & Brogan); also family members: Tom (Kathy) Walsh, Pam (Tom) Fritz, Debbie (Steve) Purtell, Cindy Walsh, Sister Meg Walsh, John (Eileen) Walsh, Sandy Graham, and Carol (Harlan) Knutson. There are also numerous nieces and nephews who will also miss the "Chosen One"! A celebration of Beth's life will be held at La Casa De Cristo Lutheran Church (6300 E Bell Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85254) on Saturday, July 29th at 1:30PM, where Beth and Cliff have been members for over 31 years.
