Elizabeth "Betty" Schell, 97, of Sterling passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016 in Sterling. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Monday, Oct. 17 at Tennant Funeral Home with Vigil and Rosary evening service to follow at 6:00 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, Oct. 18 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father Herman Nsubuga celebrating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Betty was born on October 7, 1919 in Atwood to Phillip and Magdelene (Hessener) Haberkorn. She attended school at St. Anthony's CatholicSchool. She married Jacob Schell on April 25, 1939 in Sterling. They were married for 68 years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, and crocheting. Her family remembers her as a "Domestic Goddess". Betty is survived by daughters Janice Bellendir of Sterling, Elizabeth Jean Vance of Highlands Ranch, CO, Kathleen Rose Schell of Lakewood, CO, Theresa Burgess (Richard) of Brementon, WA, Tammy Kay Schell of Highlands Ranch; son Jacob Schell of Sterling; sister-in-law Virginia Haberkorn of Cheyenne, WY; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Jacob; daughter Mary Ellen Schell; son-in-law Philip Bellendir, son-in-law Burton Vance; 9 brothers and 1 sister.
