Elizabeth "Liz" Van WykAnkenyElizabeth "Liz" Ann Van Wyk passed away August 11, 2017 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born on March 29, 1932 to Emil and Goldie (Pierson) Schowalter. She was born at home attended by the country doctor.She graduated from Corning High School in 1950. Liz went to Nurses Training at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines from 1950-1953. On May 11, 1956, she was united in marriage to Don Van Wyk. She retired in 1992. Since then she enjoyed retirement with her husband Don until his passing in 2016.Left to cherish her memory include her children: David Van Wyk and wife Nancy Ensley M.D. of Ely, Minnesota, Ruth Ann Hingeveld of Fremont, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Alyssa Rae Hingeveld of Fremont, Wisconsin, Amy Johanna Hingeveld of Fremont, Wisconsin; nephew Mark and wife Karen Frisbie of Concord, California, and niece Joy Frisbie of Portland, Oregon. Liz was preceded in death by her husband Don; and her parents.A Celebration of Life will take at 1 P.M., Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Brooks Funeral Care: 7975 University Blvd, Clive. Liz will be inurned at the Veteran's Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.
