Ella Mae Cauley, 96, of Demotte, IN and formerly of Hennepin, IL went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 13, 2019.
A private family graveside service will be held Saturday, July 20, 2019.
Ella was born on April 13, 1923, in Daviess County Kentucky to Samuel and Alice Henderson. She married Thomas Cauley in Dothan, Alabama in 1943. After her husband returned from war, they began raising their seven children in the Jeffersonville, Indiana area. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, they moved frequently, eventually settling in Gary, IN in 1956. Ella and Tom moved back to Kentucky in the early 1980s. Tom passed away in August 1985. Ella moved to Hennepin in 1988, near her daughter Bonnie.
Ella was a homemaker for most of her life and worked as a cook in various establishments after her children were raised.
Ella enjoyed quilting, reading and she loved the Lord. She was an active, devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church in Princeton while living in Illinois. Next to God, her family was the most important.
Ella was a loving matriarch to her very large family, many of whom survive her: Three daughters: Lee Whitaker, Gail (John) Sullivan and Peggy (Pam) Cauley; two sons:Â Richard (Beverly) Cauley and Stephen (Shirley) Cauley; 13 grandchildren: Robin, Kelly, Jody, Bill, Kim, Lori, Bob, Ronda, Jamie, Stacey, Kevin, Amy and Matthew; 31 great-grandchildren: Mason, Madison, Abigail, Josh, Colby, Megan, Ryan, Kari, Jessica, Megan, Nathan, Jackie, Jade, Jordan, David, Brittany, Derek, Samantha, Katy, Paige, John, Mary, Cara, Jeremy, Brooke, Hailey, Emily, Keegan, Colin, Angeli and Riley; and 12 great-great-grandchildren: Joshua, Logan, Grace, Ella, Jayce, Kingston, Emerlee, Danny, Nora, Jaxon, Lailah, and Chance, son-in-law Richard Lund and daughter-in-law Mary Ann Flanagan, and four sisters: Ruth, Claire, Mary and Alice.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tom, daughter Bonnie, son Glen, granddaughter Kristine, grandson Jeffrey, brother Morgan, and sister Cora.
