Ellavee Allen Varnado was born January 25, 1938 in Franklinton, Louisiana. She passed away October 17, 2024 and was welcomed in the arms of the Almighty Father. In her short 86 years on Earth, Ellavee graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a master’s degree in home economics. She was a teacher and home economist and finally retired with the LSU Extension Office after many years of service. She was an active member of the Osyka Baptist Church and Eastern Star until her health decline. She was intelligent and dignified and helped shaped the lives of many through her teaching. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Marie Allen; her husband, J. W. Varnado; her brothers, Ethan Allen and Billy Allen; her sister, Margaret Montalbano; and her son, Jay Varnado. She was survived by her brother, Earnest Allen; her sister, Vylinda Matte; her daughter, Jan Graves and husband Derrick Graves; her son, Joe Varnado and wife Tammy Varnado; her daughter-in-law, Becky Varnado; her 8 grandchildren, Emily Varnado, J.B. Varnado and wife Sydney Varnado, Barbie Stamps and husband Landon Stamps, Mikey Graves, Davey Graves, Beckie Nettles and husband Joseph Nettles, Rodney Varnado and wife Megan Varnado, Brit Varnado and wife Ashley Varnado; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. 

Special thanks to The Lodge at Tangi Pines Nursing Home and staff, as well as, Modern Hospice and staff. 

A private family graveside service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
