Ellen Marie (Berscheid) Davidson

Age: 86

Date of Death: February 24, 2021

Ellen went home to her father at 8:38 pm with loved ones and her loyal kitty Kelly/Cali by her side in Couer d Alene Idaho

Ellen was always so strong and brave, battling through breast cancer at 78 and colon cancer when she was 84, but it would be dementia that she succumbed to.

Date of Birth: September 3, 1934

Place of Birth: Kimball South Dakota

Ellen was a mother of three daughter’s Linda Davis (Shinn) Dot Lieberman (Shinn) Teresa Collins (Shinn) and one son Homer James Shinn III (deceased).

Grandma to 13, Great Grandma to 20. Her first great great grandson is due to arrive in July 2023. The grandkids were her pride and joy.

Prior Idaho, Ellen lived in Pennsylvania, then settling down in Santee CA for many years. Retiring in Quartzite AZ.

Ellen was a small child when the family moved to Otis Orchards Washington.

She attended Otis elementary through 8th grade. Then went onto Otis High.

Ellen worked at the East Farms Country store.

Was a waitress in Albany, OR. Spokane WA, Seattle, WA and in Couer d Alene ID. While residing in San Diego county, Ellen worked as a merchandise vender for many products in local grocery stores.

Ellen enjoyed all kinds of crafting, ceramics, oil painting, crocheting, quilting, sewing and decoupage. Collecting depression glass, and everything roosters. Towards the end she was buying multiples. It wasn’t until reading her will did we realize she was buying for her daughter’s and grandchildren. She loved baby dolls and had a large collection.

Preceded in death by: Dad: Eugene Silas Berscheid Mom: Lulu Marie (Novak) Berscheid. She was the last of her siblings Gerald, LaVonne, Donald, Ralph, Loren and Dennis. Grandson Daniel Lieberman, grand daughter Jonica Marie Smith, her only son Homer James Shinn III, Her husband of 43 years: Arnold (DAVE) B. Davidson and her best friend from her school years Virginia Davis.

Survived by her Daughters Linda Davis, Dot Lieberman and Teresa Collins. Thirteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren. Many niece’s and nephews.

The family was transferred to the Seattle area. Where they rented a house while her house was being built in Redmond WA. With Dave’s job, the family was transferred many times. Off to Whidbey Island WA. Then they were transferred to Saugus CA. Where they purchased a beautiful home. Staying in Saugus from 1974-1978, Horsham PA 1978-1980. Then transferred to Chula Vista in 1980 when then bought their last home in Santee, CA .

From there Ellen and Dave purchased a large Winnebago so they could travel the USA.

Dave and Ellen were able to travel to Australia, Iran and Sweden. Mom dreamed of someday visiting the Bourscheid (Berscheid) Castle in Luxembourg Germany. But never made it there. She did however see it on Google Earth. She loved it saying it was just like being there. Ellen and Dave travelled the USA in their RV. Visited Canada and Mexico too.

Ellen was a kind, giving and loving lady. She’d go without so her children and grandchildren wouldn’t have to.

She is greatly missed… but will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.

Rest in Paradise mom, Grandma.

We love you.
