Ellen Green ReillyNaples, FLEllen Green Reilly of Bentley Village passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 19th at Avow Hospice. The cause of death was lung cancer.Ellen was born on September 4th, 1937 in Syracuse, NY to Alfred and Elsie Myers Green. When Ellen was 12 years old her family moved to Silver Spring, MD where she became an ardent fan of the Washington Senators baseball team. Ellen was a proud member of the Class of 1959 from Washington College in Chestertown, MD. At W.C., Ellen served as President of her sorority chapter, Alpha Chi Omega, and was a Dean's List student. Ellen married her Washington College sweetheart, Richard (Dick) Reilly, shortly after graduating, on June 27, 1959. Dick and Ellen began their married lives close to his hometown in New Haven, CT where she began a lengthy career with the "Phone Company" (and its various predecessors). She started as a service representative and was quickly promoted to manager with stints in CT, San Francisco, CA and Westchester County, NY. After becoming a mother, Ellen took a 15 year break to raise a family in Carmel, NY, and eventually retired from NYNEX in 1995. After retirement, Ellen went back to school at
New York University and became a Certified Financial Planner with Ameriprise. She and Dick moved down to Naples in 1997 upon her second retirement. Ellen was an active volunteer, avid reader, devoted Elvis Presley fan and amateur genealogist. She was also able to surprise most modern day baseball fans by scoring games with pencil and paper.Ellen is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, along with their daughter Maureen Reilly (of Seattle, WA), and son Michael Reilly (of Westminster, MD); together with Mike's wife Cindy and their two daughters, Katherine and Edith; Ellen's sister, Mary Miner and niece, Jillian Herczog (both of Edmonds, WA).To celebrate Ellen's life, a funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Monday, September 4th at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Naples, followed by a luncheon reception at Bentley Village (East Clubhouse, Bentley Room).In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Washington College (Chestertown, MD) and Avow Hospice (Naples, FL).Ellen adored her family (particularly her two granddaughters) and was deeply cherished by her friends and family.
