Ellen Jean McGill (Sheerin), 77, of Shark River Hills, formerly of Belmar, passed away on January 16, after a long battle fought with courage and humor, and joined her husband, Joseph Patrick McGill, her sisters Mary Gioia, Patsy Sheerin and Tessie Mulvihill and many beloved friends in Heaven. She always had a smile and a laugh that was infectious. She had too many friends to mention by name who added joy to her life (you know who you are). She was the backbone of our family we will be lost without her. Ellen worked for Jersey Shore Medical Center for 15 years in the billing department before joining the town of Belmar in the Tax Office and City Hall. She was a parishioner of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Parish in Avon NJ. Ellen was born and raised in Jersey City. She moved to Belmar in 1974 and recently lived in Shark River Hills.

Ellen is survived by her 5 children and their spouses and partners, Trish McGill Yucius and husband Michael Yucius of Belford, Joanne McGill Bartsche and partner Ron Jelinski of Shark River Hills, Elizabeth Ann Connors of Shark River Hills, Barbara Ann McGill and partner Justin Slattery of Wall Twp., and Joseph P. McGill of Shark River Hills. Her 7 grandchildren, Danielle Rae Bartsche, Katherine Ellen Bartsche, Kelsey Yucius, Richard Connors, Collin Yucius, Justin Connors and Luke McGill. 

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Reilly Bonner Funeral Home, 801 D Street, Belmar NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 19 at 10:30 AM at Saint Elizabeth of Hungary RC Church, Avon NJ. Committal will follow at Saint Anne Cemetery, Wall Twp. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Heart Association, Saint Jude's Children's Hospital or Children's Hospital of Philadelphia would be appreciated.
