Mrs. Ellen M. Johnson, daughter of Jasper and Haddie Mae Epps Delay, was born on June 10,1926 in Florence, South Carolina. She departed her earthly life on Friday, February 14, 2020 at McLeod Hospice House after an illness.
Ellen was educated in the public schools of Florence County. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Florence, South Carolina, until she relocated to Kansas Indiana.
Ellen loved singing, cooking, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had a big heart, and will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Davis and Ruthie Lee Adams.
Ellen leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter's, Cynthia (Rasul) Muhammad and Rosalind (kenneth) Small; one sister, Dorothy (Deacon Marion) Joe, Jr., of Florence, SC; one brother, Jimmy (Tonya) Delay of Florence, SC; one grandson, Vandolph Davis, Sr., of Florence, SC; two granddaughters Candance (Cedric) Durant, Nicole (James) Robinson, three aunts: Ella (Warren) Russell of Brooklyn, NY; Essia Epps of Winston-Salem, NC; and Lizzie Mae Epps of Jacksonville, FL; one uncle, Rev. John Epps of Winston-Salem, NC; special nieces and nephews: Eriiykah Muhammad, Angela (Latwain) Davis-Black, Yana Perry, Janie, Jayle and Maya Delay, Marion Joe, III, Leonard Delay, III, Troy Joyner, Davon Delay, Travte Keith, Mark Adams, Shawn Davis and Zion Diggs; great-great nephews, Trenton Joe-Wilson and Karson Kennedy; and a host of other loved ones and friends.
