Elmer BauerLansingPassed away peacefully on March 29, 2017 at the age of 87. Elmer was born on January 30, 1930 to John and Christine (Bader) Bauer in Eureka, South Dakota. He grew up farming in North Dakota where he met the love of his life Gladys Miller. They then moved to the Lansing area where he worked as a custodian for the Lansing School District for almost 30 years. After his retirement Elmer drove for Hertz Rental Car for 10 years. He and Gladys were longtime members of Faith United Methodist.  Elmer was a hardworking humble man who loved his family and spending time with them. He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Reginald, a sister and a brother. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years Gladys (Miller) Bauer; his son, Michael Bauer; his daughter, Rita (William) Stoskopf, 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Darlene Traverse, Irene Crosby, Wilma Hagstrom; and a brother, Norman Bauer.The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel with Sallie Franks officiating. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Memory Garden. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the City Rescue Mission in memory of Elmer.
