Havlinek, Elmer C.Elmer C. Havlinek, age 85, a town of Rockland resident, died Sunday, August 27, 2017 at his residence.He was born on March 11, 1932 in Two Rivers, son of the late Frank and Helen (Engelbrecht) Havlinek. Elmer attended Washington High School, Two Rivers. He was a Veteran of the United States
Army stationed in Germany. In 1955 he married the former Sylvia Bruell. He later married the former Sue Wendland Radke in 1971. Elmer started farming in Collins in 1973 and was employed with Tecumseh Engines in New Holstein, until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the Chilton American Legion. Elmer enjoyed golfing, fishing in Canada, hunting with his Golden Retrievers, woodworking, watching old Westerns, country music and was an avid history buff. A true Renaissance man, he was incredibly self-sufficient and could fix anything. He could build a cabin, replace the engine in a car, train a horse, paint a portrait or cook a perfect steak. He was a devout patriot and a member of the NRA.Survivors include a son: Mike Havlinek of the town of Rockland; a step daughter: Shelly Platten (John Johnson) of Neenah; two step grandchildren: Alexandria and Vince; and a brother and sister-in-law: Paul (Diane) Havlinek of Howards Grove. Several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his second wife: Sue; and a sister and brother-in-law: Lorraine & Joe Kraynik.Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2017 at The Christianson & Deja Funeral Home, Valders. Officiating at the Service will be Pastor Ted Johanson with burial at Valders West Cemetery.
