Burchell, Elsie (Betty)Elsie (Betty) Burchell of Johnson City, NY, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, Thursday, August 3, 2017. She was born on April 29, 1925 in Factoryville, PA and moved to Johnson City, NY to raise her family. Betty was an exceptional lady, a loving Mom who loved her family and friends with all her heart. She had a witty sense of humor and touched everyone's lives with love, joy and laughter. Betty loved being outdoors; flowers/gardening, bingo, daily walks, animals, get-togethers with family & friends. Betty loved all seasons but her favorite was Christmas time. Her dog Snowball and Kitty were her daily companions. She loved to write poems, letters and kept in touch with everyone in her life, always provided support and love to all.She is predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Burchell; parents Walter and Elsie Treible; her daughter Cassie Burchell, son Mark Burchell and sisters Lois Whitaker and Edith Murray. Betty is survived by her daughter Suzanne Raiford and three sons; Ronald, Kevin and Christopher Burchell. She leaves behind granddaughters, Summer Reynolds, Lindsey Burchell, Amber Bond and Kylie Rodriguez and grandsons, Skylar Raiford, Mark and Kenneth Burchell, 8 great grandchildren, lifelong friend Ethel Saxby and other relatives that meant the world to her. The family really appreciates the friendship and love Betty had enjoyed throughout her life with people. A special thank you to her doctors and nurses, the staff at Terrace of Jacksonville and the truly wonderful people at Vita hospice care.Funeral services will be held 4:00 pm, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton with a prayer by Bonnie Travis and memory sharing by family and friends of Betty's long journey of life. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2;00 pm until 4:00 pm. Burial will be 11:00 am, Monday, September 11, 2017 at Vestal Hills Memorial Park, 3997 Vestal Road, Vestal, NY.
