Elsie Grace Gutherie Welton, 92, of Chicora died Friday at the Chicora Medical Center. She was born on May 23, 1924, in Cowansville to the late Hugh L. and Lillie J. Snyder Gutherie.She was a resident of the Cowansville area most of her life until she moved to Chicora 23 years ago.She was a homemaker.Elsie was a member of the Union First Presbyterian Church in Cowansville.She was a deacon, a member of the Golden Links and a quilter. She embroidered and quilted a baby quilt for all of her great-grandchildren. She loved to mow the yard and take care of her flower gardens, feed the birds and watch the hummingbirds.She is survived by a son, Ronald Welton, and companion Martha Jones, of Kittanning; a daughter, Linda Fencil, and companion Rick Brain, of Chicora; a daughter-in-law, Vonnie Welton of Karns City; grandchildren, James C. (Amy) Welton of Karns City, Frank (Mandi) Farone of Karns City, Justin (Caitlin) Welton of Worthington, Wendy (Jeff) Sirich of Karns City, Jessica (Aaron) Steffey of Kittanning, Michelle (Brad) Craig of Chicora and Jammie (Zak) Myers of Kittanning; 13 great-grandchildren, Jake Sirich, Zach Sirich, Meghan Sirich, Jaycee Welton, Austin Farone, Julianna Farone, Wyatt Craig, Carly Craig, Connor Welton, Alanna Welton, Cole Steffey, Luke Steffey and Piper Myers; two brothers, James Gutherie of Cowansville and John (Pauline) Gutherie of Garrettsville, Ohio; a sister, Florence (Floyd) Davis of Cowansville; and many nieces and nephews, of which she adored each and every one.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl J. Welton; son, Carl L. Welton; grandson, Eric J. Welton; three brothers, Wilbert, Marlin and Harold Gutherie; and three sisters, Alverda Gillen, Doretha Gutherie and Flora Gutherie.WELTON - Friends of Elsie Grace Gutherie Welton, who died Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Cowansville. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mary Marks King, her church pastor, officiating.
