Emily AbdyABDY, Emily (nee Abdelnour), was born on April 28, 1924. Originally of Paterson, NJ and later a long-time resident of Wayne, NJ and Delray Beach, FL. Emily peacefully passed away at home with her family on August 18, 2017. Emily was a pioneer in the field of Real Estate and the first female broker in Northern New Jersey. She founded the Emily Abdy Realty Group in 1959, which continues as a family-owned and operated establishment. Her beloved husband of 47 years, Anthony "Tony" Abdy, passed in 1992. Emily is survived by one of seven sisters, Gloria Focazio, and she was predeceased by her six other sisters: Mary Coussa, Helen Ged, Julie Sarapuchiello, Rita Cortese, Agnes Sciarrino and Vera Hajjar. She is also predeceased by her sister-in-laws, Mary Kayal, and Kate, Helen and Anne Abdy. Emily is also survived by her four sons, Dr. and Mrs. Victor Abdy, Mr. and Mrs. George Abdy Esq., Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Abdy and Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Abdy. Emily was the beloved Sitto "Grandmother" of her 17 grandchildren: Lisa and Kevin Gray, Pamela and Mitch Whittaker, Tricia Abdy, Anthony and Natalia Abdy, George Jr. and Krista Abdy, Victor Jr. and Gina Abdy, Richard Abdy and Jami Eskenazi, Michael Abdy, Toni Abdy, Daniella Abdy and Anthony Abdy, and her 11 great grandchildren: Alejandro, Andreas, Adrian, George III, Jude, MacKensie, Zander, Gabriella, Johnna, Isla and Violet.Emily was a philanthropist, a mentor to many, and a nurturing Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, an Aunt and friend to all. She enjoyed vacationing with her family in Point Pleasant Beach. She was a driving force behind St. Jude, St. Anne's Melkite Church and St. Nicholas Church, an accomplished artist and a published author of "Cookin' Good with Sitto". On a personal note, her energy was boundless, her sense of giving was infinite. Her most cherished treasure was her loving family. Her contagious spirit will live on forever.The family will receive friends at the Vander Plaat - Vermeulen Memorial Home 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes on Tuesday, August 22nd from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home on Wednesday at 8:45 AM followed by a 10:00 am service at St. Anne's Church in Woodland Park, NJ.
