Emily Clements Hamilton passed away peacefully on Saturday,November 12,2016 at home with her family by her side. Emily was born on December 18,1916 during a air raid in London,England. She moved to the United States in 1947,where she met her husband of 33 years,Edward K.Hamilton. Emily was predeceased by her husband,sisters Lillian,Vera and brother Charles. She is survived by her two daughters Charlotte Gemmell and husband Jackson of Hartford and Margaret Ceraldi of Rocky Hill and several nieces and nephews. Emily worked for Hartford Hospital, Travelers Insurance and the State of Connecticut Department of Social Services where she retired from after 21 years as a payroll supervisor. During her retirement years, Emily volunteered at Avery Heights Convalescent Home, assisted the elderly with taxes, and taught ESL. She valued her friendships and was happiest entertaining and hosting social gatherings. She took great pleasure providing support and sending comfort food dishes to those who were ill or housebound. A long time resident of Hartford,prior to moving to Rocky Hill Emily was a devoted member of the Broadview Community Church, a supportive member of her neighborhood blockwatch and other community events. A memorial service will be held Saturday,November 19th at 10:30 AM at Broadview Community Church, 45 Oliver Street, Hartford. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers contributions in Emily's memory can be sent to Food Share or a charitable organization of your choice.
