Emily O. (Fiege) Waite1915 - 2015Emily O. (Fiege) Waite died peacefully on April 13, 2015, at Dove Healthcare, Eau Claire, Wis.Emily was born on March 14, 1915, in Gillett, Ark., the daughter of Benjamin and Julia (Fietz) Fiege. Emily and her family moved to Kenosha, Wis., in 1923 where Emily spent most of her life. Emily attended Friedens Lutheran School and Kenosha Public Schools. On Aug. 31, 1940, Emily married Edward (Taffy) T. Waite at Friedens Lutheran Church. From their marriage, Emily and Taffy were blessed with two daughters: Carole Mae (Patrick) Glynn of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Patricia Anne (Donald) Marjala of Eau Claire, Wis.Emily leaves a strong and vibrant family of four grandchildren: Michelle (Rob) Chambers of Littleton, Colo.; Leslie (William) Spangler of Altoona, Wis.; Aaron (Rachel Vosberg) Marjala of Dousman, Wis.; and Andrew (Jessica) Marjala of Waconia, Minn., and nine great-grandchildren: Piper, Evie and Harrison Chambers; Sylvia, Nolan and Charles ("Bear") Spangler; Ava Marjala; and Amelia and Jay Marjala. Emily worked as a department manager at Wilson's Variety Store in Kenosha for 21 years, retiring in 1985 and enjoyed being an Avon representative and apartment manager for many years in her retirement. Emily is preceded in death by her husband, Edward (Feb. 5, 1966); by her parents, Benjamin and Julia; and by her brothers and sisters: Lillian Fonk (San Francisco, Calif.), Ida Kersten (Montello, WI), A.J. Jesswein (Cincinnati, OH), E.J. Jesswein (Gillett, Ark.), and Charles Scholtz (Gillett, Ark.).Emily was a member of the Senior Action Council of St. Mary's Lutheran Friendly Center, volunteered with the Shalom Center Meals on Wheels, and was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons. Emily took pride in living independently for over 100 years. Emily loved her family and friends, especially being with her great-grandchildren. Emily also enjoyed a game of bingo or pokeno with her good friends at London Square Apartments (especially Arlene Fenske), watching golf, a good joke or story, and, on occasion, a dry martini. Emily will be missed.Emily and her family and friends thank Dr. Paul Ippel, the staff at Dove Healthcare, especially Paula and Mitch, Pastors David Rockoff and Michael Gorte, and to all who sent Emily cards on her 100th birthday. Funeral services will be held at Friedens Lutheran Church, Kenosha, Wisconsin, on April 24, 2015, at 10 a.m. with visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. and internment thereafter at All Saints Cemetery, Kenosha, Wisconsin.Celebrations of Emily's life will be held at London Square Apartments, 3300 London Road, Eau Claire, Wisconsin, on April 20, 2015, from 4 to 6 p.m. and at the Vine Wine Room, Eau Claire, Wisconsin, on April 25, 2015, from 4 to 7 p.m. Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
