RACINE - Mrs. Emma Carothers passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at WF-All Saints Hospital after a lengthy battle with several illnesses. Emma was born on November 3, 1952 in Lula, Mississippi, to James and Johnella Grandberry. Emma lived in Racine, Wisconsin most of her life. She was united in holy matrimony to Leon Cheeseman Carothers in 1979. She was employed by Valet Cleaners for over 15 years before retiring. She loved to going to work, having fun and a good party but nothing meant more to her then the time she spent with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandbaby. Emma leaves to cherish her precious memories, her daughter, Monica (Robert) Ellison; grandchildren, Temirror S. Carothhers and Robert Ellison, great granddaughter, Teniyah; siblings, Julia Martin, Annie (Vernon) Stevenson, Lula (Harold) Keys, Reatha Grandberry, Jessie Mae Martin, Robert (Marie) Grandberry and Sammie (Elizbeth) Grandberry. Emma was preceded in death by her parents, James and Johnella Grandberry; he husband, Leon Cheeseman) Carothers; sisters, Rebecca Grandberry, Rose Adams and Patricia Johnson; brothers, James Grandberry and Sterling (Glenda) Grandberry; sisters in law, Maudie (George) Benson, Mattie Clyde (Bennie) Campbell, Annie (Jimmy) Gray and Arlene and Mae; brothers in law, Edward Martin, Carvin Martin, Charles, Dennis, Willie James, Larry, Kenney as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends. She will also be missed by her special friends, Sandra Lynn Person, Meeka Person, Mary Irving, Ineal, Demarea Holmes, Trina Townsend, Edna Robbins. The family would also like to give special thanks to Terry from Historic Lincoln Village Apartments and Grand Prairie Health and Rehabilitation for all of the love they showed. Emma will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. A Celebration of her life will be held on Friday, April 1st at 12:00pm in the Chapel of Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of service
