Emma Young Smith was born on September 15, 1934, in the Wilcox County community of Rosebud, AL. She was the daughter of Etheric and Janie Young. At an age, Bmma Young became a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Manistee, AL. She worshipped faithfully for many years, before relocating her membership to Truth Ministries in Frisco City, AL.
She entered the sanctity of Holy Matrimony with Tommie Rankins at a young age. Their union brought about the birth
and love of thirteen children. Mrs. Rankins provided for her family by honest and hardworking means. Throughout her lifetime, she worked as a Domestic Worker in private homes. She was a loving Homemaker and her children meant the world to her. Emma was a devoted and attentive mother. As a member of Truth Ministries, she served in whatever capacity the Lord called her to. Often times, it was simply lifting up His name and giving Him praise. Truly a loving and well-loved person, her spirit was giving and gentle. She never hesitated to help others. She would often give her very last for someone who was in need. She enjoyed spending time watching Western movies. Even in her sickness, her main concern was the weifare of others. Her unselfish and gracious disposition made her a unique person.
In the early evening hours of Wednesday , march 10, , she took her Saviors hand and left behind the woes of this earth. She was preceded in death by three children: Kenneth Rankins, Barry Rankins and James Earl Rankins and four sisters: Catherine Spencer, Viola Cooper, Emily "Panky" Young and Ella Young Bell.
She is survived by her husband: Tommie Rankins of Frisco City, AL;, six loving sons:
Harry (Costella) Rankins of Monroeville, AL, Michael Rankins, Willard (Annie) Rankins, Timmie Rankins, Larry Rankins and Tommy (Diane) Rankins all of Frisco City, AL; four devoted daughters: Mary (Larry) Jackson of Andalusia, AL, Brenda Parker of Frisco City, AL, Lorene English of Uriah, AL, and Georgia (Roy) Peoples of Little River, AL; one sister: Liza (Sterling) Green of Camden, AL; one brother: Henry Young of Georgia; thirty grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great great-grandchildren
