Emogene "Emma" Givens Williamson COLUMBIA - Emogene "Emma" Givens Williamson, 76 years of age died on December 11, 2016 at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital after a hard fought battle with cancer. Emogene was born on September 15, 1940 to "J. E." and Myrtle Sharpe Givens. She lived her childhood years in Orangeburg, SC and graduated from Orangeburg High School, class of 1958, and Draughon's Business College. She was employed by Southern Bell, South Carolina Highway Department and various doctors in the Columbia area. She leaves the following family members whom she cherished so dearly, daughters, Renee Clawson (Joey) of Boone, North Carolina, Carol Moore (Craig) of Columbia, South Carolina; and son, Jason Williamson (MarySusan) of Cayce, South Carolina and her sister, Janet Givens Whitaker of Woodstock, Georgia. Affectionately called "Me Me", she is survived by grandchildren, Garrett, Chandler, and Chase Clawson of Boone, North Carolina and Trevor, Patrick and Logan Moore of Columbia. She was also survived by her in-laws, Joe and Gay Laird; and nieces and nephews, Whit Whitaker, Greg Whitaker, Bryant Laird and Ashley (laird) Amole; and her loving cat, "C.C.". She was predeceased in death by her husband of 53 years, James "Billy" Williamson III. Emogene loved her church, First Baptist Church of Columbia, serving God in the choir and as a member of her Sunday School Class. The celebration of her life will begin with a visitation with family and friends at 2:00 in the Lindsey Chapel, followed by services at 3:00 pm in the Boyce Chapel at First Baptist Church, 1306 Hampton St. Columbia, SC 29201 on December 15, 2016, led by Pastors Dennis Banks and Richard Humphries. Following the celebration service, a private family burial will be held at Southland Memorial Gardens to lay her body to rest. The family would like to give thanks to all the special friends and caregivers at SCOA and the 5th floor at Richland Memorial Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to First Baptist Church or a charity of one's choice. Thompson Funeral of West Columbia, SC has been entrusted with arrangements.
