Epigmenio "Manuel" RosalesOctober 28, 1912 - February 10, 2014On Monday, February 10, 2014 Epigmenio (Manuel) Jimenez Rosales peacefully passed away at his home in Pocatello, Idaho at the tender age of 101.Epigmenio/Manuel was born on October 28, 1912 at El Rancho Yerba Buena, Tepechitlan Zacatecas, Mexico. He was the eldest son of Juan Carlos Rosales and Mercedes Bugarin Jimenez.In the Spring of 1918, a Revolution in Mexico was going on, and Grandpa Juan Rosales decided it was time to bring his family to the United States enabling them for a better and safer place to live. At this time dad was five years old and his brother was an infant. Part of their journey was on foot, horseback and then a train to El Paso, Texas. The first part of his life was spent with his Mother and Father working on farms in Wiley, New Mexico to Santa Rita.Dad attended his early school years in Pueblo, Colorado. The family traveled to Utah, Wyoming and Idaho where he attended school in Shelley.As a young man he worked by his father's side at different farms, including working together at the railroad. Dad was not only a hard worker, but he was blessed with musical talents. He also enjoyed boxing which made him physically fit as a young man.Dad met the love of his life in Shelley, Patrosina (Mary) Dominguez. They married in Idaho Falls on April 27, 1935. In 1942 after working 12 years on the farms in Shelley, Idaho the family moved to Pocatello, ID. It was at this time he was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad. Dad and mom bonded their love as the years quickly passed. They were blessed with ten children. In 1974 he retired from the railroad. After retirement they were able to enjoy life being together, traveling, and spending time with their children.Dad loved music and was accomplished with the piano, violin/fiddle, mandolin, banjo and guitar. He played with different groups here in Pocatello. As he played with different bands he was always willing to help others with their music. He was an honest, peace loving man; helping others along the way. He was devoted to his family and friends; always concerned and thinking about the welfare of those he loved.Dad and mom belonged to the Old Time Fiddlers, and Golden Age Club. Dad also played with the Guerrero Group, Country Clicks, Four Notes, Hoky Poky Swingers and others. Some of these involved playing at the Bannock Senior Center, Afton, Wyo, Lava and other areas in Idaho. After 57 years of marriage, his wife, Patrosinia (Mary) D. Rosales passed away on November 20, 1992. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple.Two years passed by and in 1994 he met Edsel Mecham Prescott who was also widowed. Music brought them together and they were married on June 18, 1994, in Grace, Idaho. Dad and Edsel lived in Grace for two years. It was during this time Dad entered the waters of baptism at the age of 83 and became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Dad and Edsel moved to Pocatello. Living in Pocatello, Dad and Edsel thoroughly loved to play music; she on the piano and Dad on the guitar. They spent hours practicing and playing at many events; sharing their musical talents with family and friends. They loved one another and had many happy memories together.As Dad and Edsel aged they felt it necessary to discontinue traveling with their music. With their health not as good as before; Edsel moved to North Logan Utah to a assisted living center to receive the care she needed. Dad stayed in Pocatello, where he has lived since 1942. His daughters Alice Patten and Michalene Paul shared taking care of Dad every day and night for 8 months until his passing.He leaves behind his children: John D. Rosales (Diane); Pat Stone (Rocky), Alice Patten (Thorvan); Michalene Paul (Scott); E. J. Rosales and Teresa Timpson all of Pocatello; Linda Miller (Steve-deceased) Santa Clara, California; and Marie Robbins (Randy) Grace, Idaho. Brother, Rojelio Rosales; Sixteen Grandchildren, 54 Great Grand Children, Great Great Grand children, and nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his wife Patrosinia (Mary); a daughter, Rhea Rita; a son, George Phillip; Grandson David Gene Smith, a Great Grandson and a Great Granddaughter.As sisters and brothers we wish to extend our love and appreciation to Michalene and Alice; who lovingly cared for dad these past 8 months; as well as other family members being there when needed to assist and provide relief. We also extend our thanks to Dr. Benson, Alliance Hospice Staff for their help and care for our Father.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Alameda Second Ward Chapel. (954 E. Walnut & Jefferson). The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and on Tuesday from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. at the church prior to services.
