Erik Dwayne Couch was born on March 22, 1970, in Highland Park, Michigan to the late Lanny Ross Thorpe and Mary Couch-Daniel. Erik was the oldest of 3 siblings. He attended the Detroit Public School system where we obtained his GED in 1999. Erik received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at Faith Tabernacle Church where his father was Pastor In the early 1970s. Erik had a special love for sports with the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions being his favorite teams. His love for travel took him to many places around the world. Erik had a Loyalty to his family and friends like no other. He was a genuine person that had a heart of Gold.
On May 30, 2018, God called this wonderful man, brother, uncle and friend Home to be with him. Erik leaves behind so many that Loved him. Erik will be reunited with his loving parents and grandparents, Lanny Ross Thorpe (father), Mary Couch Daniel (mother), John Couch, James Thorpe (grandfathers), Minnie Couch, Pennina Thorpe (grandmothers) which all preceded him in death. 3 sisters, T’Meka Thorpe, Yolanda Thorpe and Chandra D. Gallashaw ( god-sister).One brother, Orlando Thorpe, Dwayne E. Harper (god-brother). His companion of 20 years, Tamika Garner Who also transitioned with Erik on May 30, 2018. Erik was a father figure to Tamika’s wonderful three children who he valued as his own, Shamika Nickens, Iman Nickens, and Raphael Sanders. He had a special motherly love for Sandra Garner (future mother-law) and unconditional brotherly love for Omar Nickens (best-friend 30+ years). He leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, aunts, cousins and more true friends then one have time to name.
