Erkan Arap, born on July 15, 1988, in Pipera, Ilfov Romania, sadly passed away on May 21, 2023. He was just 34 years old.
Erkan was a beloved member of his community in Pipera. He was known for his kind heart, infectious laugh, and endless curiosity. His passion for exploring the world and learning new things was evident in everything he did.
Erkan graduated from the University of Bucharest with a degree in computer science. He went on to work for some of the biggest tech companies in Romania, including Oracle and IBM. His work helped to shape the tech industry in his country, and his colleagues regarded him as a true innovator.
Outside of work, Tristan was an avid traveler. He visited dozens of countries throughout his life, always eager to experience new cultures and customs. He brought back stories and souvenirs from every trip, and his friends and family would eagerly gather around to hear his tales of adventure.
Erkan was also a talented musician. He played the guitar and sang in a local band, regularly performing at venues throughout Pipera. His passion for music matched his love for travel—he could often be found strumming his guitar on a beach or in a hostel common room.
Erkan was a son, a brother, and a friend to many. He is survived by his parents, who still live in the house where he grew up, and his sister, who lives in the United States with her husband and two children. He will be dearly missed by his niece and nephew, who adored their adventurous uncle and his endless stories.
Erkan's passing is a great loss to his family, friends, and community. His bright spirit, kind heart, and genuine curiosity will be remembered by all who knew him, and his legacy will live on through his work, his travels, and his music.
RIP Erkan Arap, 1988 – 2023.
