Erminio Garcia Sr., 75, a lifetime resident of Las Vegas passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015, in Las Vegas.He was born on March 21, 1940, in Las Vegas to Manuel Garcia and Bersabe Medina Garcia.He enjoyed spending quality time with his family, and loved to train, breed and race horses. He had a love for animals. Erminio was councilman for the First Council of the city of Las Vegas after unification and was the county assessor. He worked as a security guard for NMHU and the UWC. He attended West Las Vegas High School where he enjoyed and excelled in basketball and football. He also owned an auto mechanic shop.A Catholic, he was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.He was preceded in death by his son: Erminio "Ermie" Garcia, Jr.; parents: Manuel and Bersabe Garcia; grandparents: Frank and Irene Medina; Roman and Anastacia Garcia; mother-in-law: Helen Garner; brothers-in-law: Mike Garner and Frankie Gallegos; and sister-in-law: Sarah Steinberg.He is survived by his wife: Elizabeth Garcia; daughter: Diana Garcia; son: Lawrence Garcia and wife, Brenda, and their children, Lawrence, Lauren and Estevan; son: Kenneth Garcia and children, Brandon, Kendall and Jordan; granddaughter: Evelyn Garcia; sisters: Eloisa Lucero and husband, Cecilio, Ester Garcia; brother: Manuel Garcia and wife, Silvia; sisters-in-law: Caroline Hernandez and husband, Mike, Christine Garner, Dorothy Lujan and husband, Gerald, Cathy Montano and husband, Joe, JoAnn Padilla, Nancy Montaño and husband, Johnny; brothers-in-law: Bobby Gallegos and wife, Angie, Freddie Gallegos and wife, Vita, Charlie Gallegos and wife, Patricia; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. on Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas.
