Ernest Fred Weber
(Ernie)
14 September 1941 – 9 July 2023 (81 years)
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Ernest Fred Weber (Ernie) on July 9, 2023 at the age of 81 after a brave battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Donna Weber, who helped care for him to the end, and who will miss him dearly.
Ernie married later in life at the age of 40, when fate joined him with his loving wife Donna in 1989. Together they fulfilled his dream of purchasing an acreage in Foothills Alberta in 1999, where they spent the next 24 years creating and living the lifestyle that he loved. With his wife Donna, Ernie loved the outdoors, spending his free time taking countless trips to B.C., traveling to Kananaskis and enjoying the beauty of nature wherever they could find it, often with their adventure partners Marion and Cecil Leong. His love of life was exemplified through his passion for photography, with thousands of pictures capturing the beauty of the world as seen through his eyes. His love of photography was only rivaled by his love for puzzles, a hobby that could occupy him for hours on end. He had a passion for collecting model farm equipment and he loved cars, having owned a vintage VW Beetle and a classic 68 Mustang.
Ernie was born on September 14, 1941, in Fairview Alberta to Ernest (Sr.) and Rose Weber. He grew up on the family farm helping his father, eventually taking over the responsibilities in his teenage years after his father’s passing. He then relocated to Calgary where he completed his apprenticeship to become a Journeyman Partsman, a profession that he truly enjoyed. He became a valued employee of Waterous in 1972, where he worked for 17 years. He then transitioned to a 20-year career with the City of Calgary Transit Department. It was from here that he reluctantly retired in 2011 at the age of 70.
Ernie is survived by his loving wife Donna Weber, Step-Son Scott Daniluk (Gin), Grandson Ethan Daniluk, Grand daughter Cassidy Daniluk, Sister Louise Kok, Brother Gary Weber (Pauline), Sister Marjorie Voll, Nieces: Stephanie, Stacey, Laura. Nephews: Doug, Brian, and David (to whom Ernie was a loving Godfather). Grand-nephews Henry and George. He is predeceased by his parents Ernest Sr. and Rose Weber, Step-son Jeff Daniluk and Sister Sylvia Weber.
We welcome all who were touched by him to join us in a Celebration of his life on July 22, 2023 at 2:00
