Ernestine Bynes, born on February 3, 1965, in Miami, Florida, United States, passed away on April 17, 2023, at the age of 58.
Ernestine was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend to many. She led a life full of love, compassion, and selflessness. From an early age, Ernestine had a passion for helping others, and she devoted her life to making the world a better place.
Ernestine attended Miami High School and went on to graduate from Florida State University with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work. She continued her education at the University of Miami and earned a Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling.
Ernestine dedicated her career to improving the lives of children in need. She started working as a social worker for the Miami-Dade County Department of Children and Families, where she fought tirelessly to protect children from abuse and neglect. Her dedication and hard work did not go unnoticed, and she quickly rose through the ranks to become the Director of Child Welfare Services for the county. She held this position for over 20 years, and her tireless efforts helped to improve the lives of countless children and families.
In addition to her successful career, Ernestine was a devoted wife and mother. She married her high school sweetheart, Marcus Bynes, and together they had two beautiful children, Michael and Olivia. Ernestine was a loving and supportive mother who always put her children's needs above her own. She was actively involved in her children's lives and volunteered at their schools and extracurricular activities.
Ernestine was also a devoted member of her community. She was a member of the Miami-Dade County Chapter of the NAACP, where she worked to improve the lives of people of color. She was also a member of the Miami-Dade County Foster Parent Association, where she worked to recruit and train foster parents to care for children in need.
Ernestine's life was an inspiration to all who knew her. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and colleagues. Her legacy of compassion and selflessness will live on through the countless lives she touched during her lifetime.
Ernestine is survived by her husband, Marcus Bynes; her children, David and Olivia Bynes; her mother, Gloria James; her brothers, James and William James; and her sisters, Cynthia James and Sharon James.
A celebration of Ernestine's life will be held on April 29, 2023, at 12:00 pm at the Hadley Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, Florida.
