STEMPLE, Ernestine (Age 92) Ernestine Stemple passed away on October 31, 2016. She was born on May 17, 1924 to Emelia and Adam Ackerman on a farm in Watauga County in South Dakota. She was the youngest of three sisters, along with two younger brothers. The family moved West in 1937 to North Idaho, then to Spokane where she resided for the rest of her life. During World War II, she worked at Galena Air Base in the airplane parts department. During that time, she met her future husband Martin Francis Stemple at the Natatorium Park. They were married soon after. Later on in life, she worked at Montgomery Ward as a sales clerk and then as a catalog sales clerk until her retirement. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Martin; sisters, Ida Steinbach and Ann Miller; brothers-in-law, Ted Steinbach, Tom Miller and Pete Zimmerman, brother, Daniel Ackerman and sister-in-law, Dorothy Ackerman. She is survived by her sister, Christine Zimmerman, brother, Wesley Ackerman (Peggy); daughter, Martina Vannieuwenhoven (Ken); two grandsons, five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home on Friday, November 4th with visitation starting at 9:30am and funeral service beginning at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ernestine's name to Hospice of Spokane 121 S. Arthur, PO Box 2215, Spokane, WA 99210-2215.
