Ernesto "Prim" Gallegos, a longtime resident of Las Vegas and owner and operator of Gallegos Salvage Yard, passed away in the arms of his loved ones on Thursday evening.He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicolas and Estanislada Gallegos; a son, Richard Gallegos; two brothers, Susano and Blas Gallegos; his step-mother, Felicita Gallegos; and an uncle, Nabor Ortega.He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Manuelita of the family home; five daughters, Tina Herrera and husband, Javier, of Booker, Texas, Joann Gallegos and companion, Karl Gonzales, Pauline Gallegos and companion, Ricky Padilla, all of Las Vegas, N.M., Veva Strahl and husband, Robert, of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Cathy Huerta of Evans, Colo.; one son, Prudencio Gallegos and wife, Judy, of Las Vegas, N.M.; 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.He was born on Aug. 13, 1929 in Sena. For 59 years he owned and operated the Gallegos Salvage Yard. Besides caring for his family and grandchildren, he enjoyed gardening and caring for his pet dog "Butch."A visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. today (Monday) at St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations. Services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with a rosary at 7 p.m. today (Monday). The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Following services here he will be taken to Sena for a rosary at the Nuestro Señor de Esquipula Church at 11 a.m. The interment will follow in the Nuestro Señor de Esquipula Cemetery in Sena with the following serving as casket bearers: Jesse Gallegos, Prudy Gallegos Jr., Angelo Salazar, George Romero, Adam Gallegos, and Jacob Gallegos. Honorary bearers will be: Prudencio Gallegos, Richard Padilla, Karl Gonzales and all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
