Ervin "Red" HollisClarksville, TNFuneral service for Ervin Junior ("Red") ("E.J.") Hollis, age 95 of Clarksville, will be Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 11 AM at Sykes Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sykes Funeral Home and again on Thursday, from 10:00 AM until the time of service. "EJ" passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at his residence. He was born on February 21, 1922 in Montgomery County, TN to Ervin and Martha Hollis. He was a Veteran of The United States
Army and served during
World War II. "E.J." was a member of Walton's Chapel United Methodist Church and retired from the Montgomery County Highway Department. "Red" loved growing tomatoes and other vegetables and taking them to the Farmer's Market where he could visit with others. Many people sought him out to purchase his tomatoes. If there was any work to be done at the church, Ervin was always there and ready to help. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by Ora Hollis, Nina (Hollis) Stagner, Emma Darlene (Hollis) Sheppard, Mary Lois (Hollis) Dyce, Novella (Hollis) Ray, Charles Marvin Hollis, Guy Edward Hollis, and Bobby Ray Hollis.He is survived by his wife, Alma Nell (Simmons) Hollis, children; Rodney Hollis of Ashland City, TN, Corneice (Phillip) Hester of Clarksville, TN, grandchildren; Shannon Barger of Clarksville, Chris (Regina) Hampton of Clarksville , TN, Michael (Jessica) Hampton of Signal Mountain, TN, great-grandchildren; Lane Barger, Kaelyn, Caleb, Reed, and Molly Hampton, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and many others he loved as his own.Pallbearers will be Chris and Michael Hampton, Steve and Philip Hollis, Mike Ray and David Webb.
