Essel Gaskins passed away on June 11, 2024, in his home in Franklin, Tennessee. Essel was born on April 4, 1935, to Robert and Melinda Gaskins. He was married to Jasmine since 1956 and they had four children: Douglas (spouse Kimberly), Essel Jr (spouse Roberta), Lindsay (spouse John), and Jane (spouse Tony). He is also survived by three grandchildren, Conner, Rebecca, and Tony.
Essel attended Franklin High School, graduating in 1954, before continuing his studies at the University of Tennessee where he graduated in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science. He went on to work at Pro Handyman Services as a carpenter until his retirement in 1990. Essel also served in the Army as a Sergeant during World War II and retired from his position after 8 years in service.
Essel was known for his love of woodworking, gardening, hunting, and fishing. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
