Essie Known as “EK” by those she loved was born December 10th, 1932 to the late LouSarah & John Wilson. She was born in Tuskegee Alabama. She accepted Christ and attended Liberty Hill AME Zion. She attended and graduated from the Tuskegee Institute. Soon after she migrated from the south up north to Detroit Michigan. During her time here she joined the Pentecostal Church of God where she was a very active member. Before meeting her late husband a beautiful son Derrick Wilson who preceded her in death was born. A short time after she met and married the love of her life George Conoway. To their union, two sons were born Darryl and Devaughn. EK loved helping people, after she migrated from the south she welcomed her loved ones into her home with open arms. She helped so many people that some often thought her house was a boarding house. She found joy in being a blessing to others. Throughout the years she continued to be a help to many. She enjoyed spending time with family and cooking especially her famous collard greens and hot water cornbread. She spent her life doing exactly what Christ wants us all to do that’s, helping others and loving unconditionally. She was a jewel to many and will truly be missed. She leaves to cherish her sons Darryl and Devaughn, Grandchildren Darius, Travonna, Paige, Devaughn Jr and Lakyshia, 5 living siblings Johnny, Herbert, Katie, Naomi, and Susie Mae, 5 siblings who preceded her in death Wayne, Eva, Emmagene, and Ruth. A daughter Law Louise, A special nephew Wallace McNeal and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to extend a special thanks to OakPointe senior care, Melanie Shipman and Mabel O'Brien (who preceded her In death) for the special help they exerted in the last days of her life.
