Estella Mae SchieberMETAMORA - Estella Mae Schieber, 88, of Metamora, IL, passed away at 6:50 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2016, at Washington Christian Village in Washington, IL.She was born on February 21, 1928, in Rock Valley, Iowa, to William and Grace (Edwards) Vierhout. She married Frank E. Schieber on November 26, 1944, in Washington, IL. He passed away on April 12, 1983.Surviving are her daughter, Carol (Vernon) Wood of LowPoint, IL; son, Roger (Deborah) Schieber of Metamora; grandchildren, Frank (Donna) Wood of Oxford, England, Drew Wood of Lawrenceville, NJ, Brian (Niki) Schieber of Metamora, Andrea (Nate) Ennis of Washington and Lisa (Clint) Hall of Edwardsville, IL; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters. Grace Reich of Union, KY, and Jean Slack of Morton, IL.She was preceded in death by her infant daughter in 1950, three brothers, and three sisters.Estella had numerous part-time jobs over the years. She was a volunteer at Proctor Hospital. She was a member of the Metamora Home Extension and a 4-H Fair Judge, member of the Metamora Legion Auxillary and the Sassy Ladies Sewing Club. She was a member of Christian Union Church in Metamora, where she had cleaned the church for many years, and also a member the Christian Union Women's Guild and Philthea. Estella and her husband lived on the family farm for 25 years. She loved cooking and baking, sewing, playing cards, crocheting, bowling and spending time with her family. She never knew a stranger. Estella was a very loving and giving woman who will be deeply missed.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at Christian Union Church in Metamora, with the Reverend Gary Salm officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel and on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Metamora.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Metamora Christian Union Church or Emergency 116.Online condolences at
