Esther Mathilda Boysen, 99, of Hayfield, Minn., passed away on Nov. 22, 2016, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield. Esther was born on May 27, 1917, the daughter of Henry and Ella (Revo) Ohm in Hewitt, Minn. Esther was united in marriage to George Boysen on March 9, 1940, at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Waltham. To this union, three children were born: one son and two daughters. After their marriage, the couple farmed in rural Hayfield until retiring in 1963, when they moved to Hayfield. Esther worked for many years at Field Crest Care Center in the kitchen and later in the activities department. Esther is survived by her son, George (April) Boysen, Castle Rock, Colo.; daughters Sharon (Jim) Bauer, Richfield, Minn., and Charlene (David) Gilman, Portland, Ore.; sister, Myrna Boe, Hayfield; grandchildren, Thomas (Mary) Boysen, Georgia (Jesse) Olave, Patrick Gilman and Jennifer (Ron) Christopher; stepgrandchildren, Ann Bauer Malling, Joseph (Tracy) Bauer, Andrew (Joy) Bauer, David Dahl and Mark (Chris) Dahl; great-grandchildren, Mikayla Olave, Reid Olave, Sebastian Boysen, Preston Boysen and Ryan Christopher; stepgreat-grandchildren, Stephen (Katie) Malling, Ethan Bauer and Alexander Dahl. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George, in 1986; and son-in-law, Gordon J. Dahl. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 First St. SE in Hayfield, with the Rev. Paul Hauschild officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield. The family prefers memorials to Field Crest Activities Department.
